Pembroke College Chapel Choir Project Rescued by Cambridge Technology
When Cambridge's Pembroke College Chapel Choir recently got into trouble with the production of their 2007 Christmas carol CD, they found themselves turning to Cambridge-DR, a Cambridge company that not only specialises in the professional production of CD's and DVD's but is also a part of Copytrax, a world leader in the development of CD and DVD production technology.

"We had originally arranged for the production of the CD's with another company," said Dr Sam Barrett, Director of College Music. "But when the CD's arrived, the tracks were out of sequence and there were also tracks that we had requested to be left off the CD. When we expressed our disappointment, the supplier explained that he would not be able to replace the CD's before the Xmas break, which of course was very disappointing to hear."
The Pembroke Chapel Choir then contacted local CD duplication service, Cambridge-DR, to see if it was possible to have the Christmas Carol CD's produced in record time. Cambridge-DR is equipped with the very latest technology available worldwide and was able to turnaround the order within two days.
"We are a part of Copytrax, a world leader in the development of CD and DVD printing and duplication technology," said Philip Allingham, Sales Manager. "One of our machines is capable of digitally printing 1200 CD's an hour; so, of all the CD duplication companies in the world, I suspect we were best placed to meet their deadlines and what's more, we were on their door step." ( www.copytrax.com )
Once delivered back to the college, the entire choir set about repackaging the entire shipment, exchanging the old CD for the new corrected version. Once completed, the project was back on track and available to bring pleasure to thousands of listeners over the Christmas period.
"We are delighted with the service that we received from Cambridge-DR," said Dr Sam Barrett. "The CD's are of the highest quality and the turn around time has been very impressive.”
The Christmas CD's are now available for purchase from the Pembroke College website ( www.pem.cam.ac.uk ).

Cambridge DR Helps Launch Meridian's Super HiFi
In February 2007 Cambridgeshire company Meridian Audio launched one of the most interesting and innovative products to hit the world of home entertainment for years: the Meridian F80, described as the ultimate high-performance transportable system.
For 30 years Meridian Audio has designed and manufactured the world's most desirable home entertainment systems. Founded in 1977 the company has won numerous accolades for product performance and design, including an unprecedented 3 British Design awards. In 2005, Meridian Audio was approached by Ferrari, the Italian company that has developed an enviable reputation for producing high-performance and highly desirable GT cars, as well as running a record-breaking Formula One racing team, to collaborate on a joint-technology project. This collaboration resulted in the Meridian F80, a product that embodies the values of both companies: performance, innovation and bold product design.

"...Cambridge-DR are able to deliver very high quality on-body print and reliable duplication. In addition to this, they are always responsive, which is very important to us when tight deadlines are involved..."
When Meridian wanted to tell the world about this exciting new product, they created press packs and high quality photography that they distributed on CD's to magazines and also at worldwide exhibitions. To ensure every CD reflected the quality of Meridian and the F80, the CD's were printed and duplicated by Cambridge-DR, the Cambridge based digital media reproduction company.
"We've been using Cambridge-DR for several years now," said Stuart Russell, Marketing Manager for Meridian. "CD is obviously a very convenient format for distributing information about our products and high resolution product photography, Cambridge DMR are able to deliver very high quality on-body print and reliable duplication. In addition to this, they are always responsive, which is very important to us when tight deadlines are involved."
Cambridge-DR provide CD, DVD and Flash Drive duplication service to industries such as software development, scientific and engineering, educational services, marketing and music and film creation. They specialise in handling complete projects, undertaking the duplication, on-body printing, packaging and in some cases shipment of finished products.
"We were very pleased to be asked to produce the promotional CD's for the F80," said Philip Allingham, Sales Manager at Cambridge-DR. "It's a very classy product and sounds fantastic, so its good to be a part of such a project. Meridian also produced very nice artwork for the CD's, these really benefited from our high resolution print and UV finishing solution. The finished CD's also looked very classy and carried the high-end Meridian brand very well."
The June issue of influential UK magazine “What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision” referred to the Meridian F80 as a “work of genius”, awarding it 5 stars and a “Best Integrated System” award, and technology title Stuff called the product “micro dynamite”. For more information, please visit www.thef80.com

Cambridge-DR to offer Complete Software Packaging Service
Digital media reproduction company, Cambridge-DR, have announced the launch of a fully integrated software packaging service that will enable software developers to reliably outsource the duplication, printing, packaging and shipment of new products.

Cambridge-DR are a leader in the duplication and printing of CD's, DVD's and Flash Drives working especially within the business to business software sector and scientific and engineering.
"Traditionally we have been expert in the high quality duplication and printing of CD's and DVD's but increasingly we are being asked to provide inserts, version control, packaging and even shipment, " said Philip Allingham, Sales manager at Cambridge-DR. "Many of these products have different versions targeting different markets, so we have developed a lot of expertise in this area and have now decided to offer this service as a complete package."
Cambridge-DR clients range from national biotech companies to leading academic organisations. In additional to the creation of CD and DVD media for entertainment, Cambridge-DR produces digital media products for such sectors as education, business software, scientific and engineering software and promotional Flash Drives, CD's and DVD's for marketing and conferences.
"We'll now offer a one stop shop," said Philip. "We'll handle the entire process, including the development of artworks and packaging and the organisation of printed material. The benefit to our clients is that they will be able to focus on their product development rather than be distracted by the logistics and issues surrounding the final packaging stage of the process. We also have the technology and expertise to ensure that every product meets the highest quality standards as well as being able to meet tight deadlines."

Cambridge-DR is one of the first companies in the world to use the Copytrax Project 37 CD and DVD industrial printing machine. The Project 37 is a CD/DVD printer designed for industrial volume production. Capable of printing 1200 discs per hour, Project 37 introduces the many commercial and operational benefits of direct-on-disk printing to the higher volume producer of media products. Project 37 has also set a new industry standard for image quality and durability with its advanced colour management and integral UV coating technology.
"With the Project 37 machine, the whole process is digital so we can run small batches as easily as large ones and without the need to charge for costly tooling and setting up time, said Philip. "Clearly, this also means we can deliver in shorter time-frames, so it's easy to see that Project 37 will be great news for software developers seeking to ship small and medium batches volumes in short timescales."

Using Duplicated Flash Drives as an Effective Marketing Tool
To most people Flash Drives are simply a very convenient storage medium. In fact, it is their simplicity and convenience that makes them such a powerful marketing tool.
Whether you are planning a conference, a training seminar, a product launch or even the introduction of new technology to existing customers, using duplicated Flash Drives as a medium for your marketing information will prove to be a powerful new approach to getting your message over.
How is a Flash Drive used in marketing ?
The Flash Drive can be used to store your presentation, or an evaluation copy of your software, or your catalogue, or a Flash demo of your technology or even your entire website. Flash Drives can have a lot of capacity, so there is a plenty of scope to get creative. Your information can be stored in a secure folder, leaving the remaining space available for daily use by the recipient.
Furthermore, the Flash Drive can easily be branded with your company logo and tag line. With a wide choice of stylish designs available, you can be sure to create a product that will reflect the value of your company and your products.
What are the advantages of using a Flash Drive over a CD ?
Firstly, a Flash Drive is not a ‘throw-away' item. They are seen as useful and of real value, so will almost certainly be retained by the recipient. In fact, the recipient may be using this device on a daily basis, maybe even carrying it from meeting to meeting. At all times, your data and your logo will be available to convey your company message.
Being much smaller, a Flash Drive can easily be stored in a pocket or in a purse, so is far more portable. Also, they can have far more capacity for data than a CD and it is much easier and faster to access this data when retained on a Flash Drive.
From a physical perspective, Flash Drives have some key advantages. The data is not at risk of being corrupted by scratches and Flash drives rarely need any additional packaging such as inserts or jewel cases in order to create a sense of value – in this respect, Flash Drives can be quite self contained.
A recent development in this area has been the emergence of “credit card” USB flash drives. As the name suggests, they are the same size and shape as a credit card, giving more of an external area for the branding and marketing message and providing an even more portable format and up to 2Gbytes of memory.
How do I arrange to use Flash Drives for our next big event?
The best way forward is to contact a specialist digital media duplication company such as Cambridge DMR. Such companies have special equipment that not only copies the data to multiple Flash Drives but will also carry out quality tests to ensure the integrity of the device and the data. They will also be able to give you competitive pricing and a choice of style, colours etc and the option to have your logo on the Flash Drive casing.
